Langley Community Spirit Award
Description
For a Langley business that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility and community involvement, and in doing so has consistently contributed to the wellbeing of Langley.
Requirements
The information in this submission will form the basis by which nominees are judged and the award recipients determined by our judging panel. In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your business and shares why it is worthy of distinction.
For this category, the submission should outline what the business has done to support the broader community and what contributions have been made to support the wellbeing and success of the Langley community and its residents.
Eligibility
- Nominees must have both a business location within the Township of Langley or the City of Langley and a valid municipal business license
- This category is only open to businesses -- non-profit organizations and charities should apply in the Charitable or Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award category
- An organization or individual is ineligible to win the same award category more than once in three years
- A nominee may be named a finalist in no more than two categories
- Nominees will be required to submit a judging package for review by the Selection Committee and upon which the award recipients will be determined
- An award may not be issued for every category, depending on the applications received
- Active members of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors are ineligible to receive an award
Employer of the Year Award
Description
For a Langley business or organization that demonstrates employer excellence through practices that positively contribute to employee development and wellbeing, through policies that support diversity and inclusion, and through actions that support organization growth and employee recruitment and retention.

In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your organization and shares why it is worthy of distinction.
For this category, the submission should outline what the organization has done to make itself an employer of choice, and the efforts undertaken to support employee retention, growth and development.

Entrepreneurial Excellence Award
Description
For a new business which has been in operation for at least 2 years and up to 5 years and which has demonstrated outstanding success, innovation and entrepreneurialism in this new venture.

The information in this submission will form the basis by which nominees are judged and the award recipients determined by our judging panel.
In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your organization and shares why it is worthy of distinction. For this category, the submission should outline what the organization has done to demonstrate entrepreneurialism as a new business, and examples and measures of success and growth achieved.

Environmental Leadership Award
Description
For a Langley business or organization which has demonstrated a clear commitment to environmental sustainability in their operations by adopting actions and initiatives that reduce carbon emissions, pollution, or energy and materials consumption.

The information in this submission will form the basis by which nominees are judged and the award recipients determined by our judging panel. In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your organization and shares why it is worthy of distinction.
For this category, the submission should outline what the organization has done to embed environmental sustainability into their operations and processes, and should include - where possible - measures of energy saved, emissions reduced, waste diverted, or other such outcome metrics.

George Preston Memorial Business Person of the Year
Description
For an individual business person who, as the business owner or senior executive, demonstrates outstanding leadership, success, vision and commitment, and in doing so is an outstanding role model for business excellence.

The information in this submission will form the basis by which nominees are judged and the award recipients determined by our judging panel. In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of the nominated individual.
For this category, the submission should outline what the nominated individual is worthy or distinction, and should outline their contributions and efforts to their organization and the positive outcomes as a result. This award is presented to an individual business person who is the business owner or senior executive of a Langley business.

Charitable or Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award
Description
For a Langley charitable or non-profit organization that has made an overall outstanding contribution to the Langley community and its citizens through its work, and in doing so has made Langley a better place to live, work and play.

In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your organization and shares why it is worthy of distinction.
For this award, the submission should outline the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the organization to make a positive contribution to the Langley community while also demonstrating organizational excellence and success.
Eligibility
- Nominees must have both a business location within the Township of Langley or the City of Langley and a valid municipal business license
- An organization or individual is ineligible to win the same award category more than once in three years
- A nominee may be named a finalist in no more than two categories

Business of the Year Award (Up to 24 employees)
Description
For a Langley business employing up to 24 full-time employees that has demonstrated outstanding overall business success and made achievements in the areas of innovation, business growth and community involvement.

In making this submission, please provide information, background, and evidence that tells the story of your organization and shares why it is worthy of distinction.
For this category, the submission should outline the efforts undertaken and the achievements made that demonstrate organizational excellence and success. Results and success measures, such as revenue and employee growth or awards won should be included, along with any other positive indicators or outcomes.
